Bush the leaker

It has now been established that it was Bush who authorized Cheney to leak the information about Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson. Now remember, at the time Bush said there were so many leakers in Washington he doubted that we would ever find out. He also said repeatedly that if he knew who it was they would be suitably punished. These were all lies as he obviously knew who the leaker(s)were and has subsequently done nothing about it. In short, not only is he a liar (of course this is only one lie out of thousands) but he is potentially guilty of treason. Does anyone care? It seems not.

The recent Supreme Court decision about Bush's power to use military tribunes not only means they are unconstitutional and violate international law, it also suggests that Bush is a war criminal because of violating the Geneva convention. Of course Bush would not be in this war crime alone; Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and others who have participated would also be subject to prosecution for war crimes. Zounds! Where is Superman when you need him? Not to fear, Lindsay Graham is leading charge to make certain the Geneva convention (which the U.S. signed) will not be allowed to override U.S. wishes about this. He doesn't want U.S. personnel to be found guilty of war crimes. This raises a most interesting point. If the U.S. is guilty of war crimes why should they not have to face the consequences? It must be because we are good and everyone else is bad. We are above international law. In other words, it is us against the world. Maybe Bush/Cheney should have thought of this before their illegal, unconstitutional, immoral, and unnecessary "war" on Iraq. This is the typical Republican response to Bush/Cheney's lawbreaking - just change the law. Of course everyone in even a semblance of their right mind knew Bush/Cheney et al were war criminals even before this decision. But, ho-hum, who cares. This is the most incredible situation I have ever seen or heard of in all of my many years.

North Korea fires some missiles into the air, where they fell we know not where. Harmlessly into the Sea of Japan. But they showed us. And now we're going to show them. Will they get more carrots or more sticks? Stay tuned (I'm sure you will hear of little else for the next week or so).

There are apparently a dozen Republican candidates for president, and there are also a dozen Democratic candidates. Most of them, as near as I can tell, are about as qualified (or desirable) as a Barbary ape picked at random. If McCain and Hillary are the leading candidates that ought to tell you something. Al Gore who is not a candidate (at least not yet) is almost certainly the only person who has the knowledge and experience and wherewithal to even attempt to clean up Bush/Cheney's
unbelievable mess. It will certainly be a thankless task and if Gore actually does eventually attempt it he should get a Medal of Honor before he even begins. And he will have to have the full cooperation of all Americans - so you know what the odds of success will be. Poor Al! I guess we should leave it up to Santorum.
